Naturalist Hike To Rancheria Falls
DISCOVER THE SERENE BEAUTY OF HETCH HETCHY
Offered in April

Head deep into the little traveled Hetch Hetchy Valley on this idyllic hike along steep granite walls to Rancheria Falls. During our trip we will discuss the local flora and fauna as well as Hetch Hetchy’s O’Shaughnessy Dam, one of the most controversial issues in national park history. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the reservoir and will get to see abundant wildflowers and beautiful waterfalls.

This hike is also a great opportunity to see bears and many of our other furry and scaly friends. Get ready for a great experience in one of Yosemite’s most crowd-free valleys. Expect a long day hike in which the rewards greatly outweigh the efforts.

Offered in May

This featured hike takes us along the beautiful Main Fork of the Tuolumne River, below the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. We will likely have the trail to ourselves as we enjoy abundant wildflowers throughout our trip including Lupine, Indian Paintbrush, Larkspur, California Indian Pink and many others.

Our trail will take us past Granite Gorge, a beautiful section of river banked by vertical granite walls. Upon arriving at Preston Falls you will have time to eat lunch on the banks and take a swim in the Tuolumne’s crisp, clear waters to cool off before the hike back.

Cloud’s Rest By Way of Sunrise Trail
UNOBSTRUCTED VIEWS OF THE VALLEY AND HIGH COUNTRY
Offered in September & October

The hike to Cloud’s Rest, one of John Muir’s favorite places, is not for the faint of heart. The trail starts near picturesque Tenaya Lake, considered by many to be the gateway to the high country, and continues south for over six miles to the exposed ridgeline of Cloud’s Rest. The day’s highlight will be the exhilarating half mile up to the 9,900 foot granite summit.

The panorama from the top, free from trees, offers unobstructed views of Half Dome, the Cathedral range and Tenaya Canyon. The view from here is considered by many to be even better than from the top of Half Dome. This trip, due to its length and elevation, will test your endurance, but the rewards are spectacular! Bring your camera, plenty of water, and your sense of adventure as our guides take you up one of Yosemite’s jewels.
