Why did you come to Yosemite?
In my opinion, Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places in the world and has amazing biodiversity. It has always been a place that has shown me the grandeur of nature. I came to Yosemite to share this with beauty with others and to inspire them to care about its wellbeing.
What are your Hobbies?
I have a plethora of hobbies, but my main ones include trail running, hiking, backpacking, climbing, and learning primitive/ancestral skills.
Favorite hike/trail here in Yosemite?
My favorite hike is a trail that leads to Gaylor lakes and some silver mines. It is a short-hard trek uphill but once you get over the top the view is stunning. Deep blue lakes fed by pure white snowfields. Lush green meadows waving in the wind. Marmots and Pikas curiously scampering about. Dilapidated mines and structures telling the story of what once was. It is a picture of the story of the Sierra Nevada’s.
Your craziest hiking story?
One summer, I took a spur-of-the-moment 10-mile hike in Arkansas. I ran and walked portions of the trail, so I could get it done in a reasonable time. About halfway through, I set up my hammock and had dinner. As I was enjoying the beauty, I heard a tippity tapping sound approaching. To my surprise, it was an armadillo! I watched him frantically eat ants as they darted from his snout. After a bit, he was right beside me! I threw a rock into the woods to see how he would react. It startled him and he jumped so high he almost landed in my hammock! He took off running bumping into trees as he went and I couldn’t breathe from laughter.
Favorite Hiking Meal /Food?
My favorite hiking food is trail mix. I like to make my own with many types of dried berries, nuts, and seeds. The flavors mix and make a delicious snack!
My dream vacation would be a backpacking trip to a secluded mountain lake. All-day long I would explore, fish, swim, and watch.
